Friends of St Martin, Bladon

The Friends became a registered charity in 2001 with the main aim of supporting the church by providing funds to keep the churchyard and church in good order. A secondary objective is to develop good relationships between the congregation of St Martin's and people living in the parish who may not be churchgoers.

The Friends have been pleased to meet the first objective in many ways such as paying for the decoration of the interior of the church, providing noticeboards and cupboards to tidy up the back of the church, and helping to finance the purchase of two pianos as well as helping to renovate the Church Room which is used by the village as a community centre.

Social events have included quizzes, "safari lunches", hosting events for the Bladon Feast and having an "auction of promises" when David Cameron came along to auction tea on the terrace at the House of Commons. Our patron is Lady Mary Soames, DBE.
